How Leaf Guard works
With Leaf Guard’s patented design,

Byers’ Leaf Guard works on the scientific principle known as “liquid adhesion.” If you hold a glass sideways under a running faucet, you’ll see this principle at work – the water clings to the curve of the glass. Rainwater clings to Leaf Guard’s curved hood and drops into the trough. Leaves, twigs, pine needles and seed pods roll right over the edge.

Standard aluminum gutters weigh in at .027". Byers’ Leaf Guard gutters are built from .032" aluminum – 23% thicker. Because it’s aluminum, it won’t rust. Byers’ Leaf Guard is also available in 16 oz. solid copper.

Leaf Guard's unique design allows us to slope the gutters to the downspouts independently of the roofline. Leaf Guard attaches to the fascia boards or rafter tails, not the roof. This method allows our installers to carefully control the slope of the gutters, making sure "Positive Flow" moves water out of your gutters. Where West Nile virus is a problem, you don't want standing water in your gutters where mosquitos can breed. With Byers' Leaf Guard, rainwater always flows out of the troughs, down the spouts and away from your home.

Everything about the Leaf Guard design moves water fast. Our troughs are large and unobstructed by brackets or screws. Our downspouts are 3" x 4" instead of the usual 2" x 3" – double the drainage of ordinary downspouts. The Leaf Guard system can handle up to 32" of rain per hour.
